Jacob DK Yarn - 2023 clip

$30.00

100% Jacob Yarn in 4 colors.

This is the prime wool from our 2023 shearing, sorted into colors, and spun into 2-ply DK weight yarn. I sort the coarser britch wool away from the bulk of the fleece. Then I sort the remaining fiber into white, black, and gray. The gray fiber includes parts of the white and black that can't easily be separated so there are fibers of both colors in the strands of gray yarn. Some of the lilac fleeces are processed without sorting white and colored fiber (middle skein in the photo). The fiber was scoured, carded, and spun at Valley Oak Wool Mill in Yolo County, CA.

Jacob sheep are a rare breed with unique spotted fleeces and 2 or 4 horns! Our flock grazes irrigated pasture 3/4 of the year and is fed locally grown alfalfa during the winter. We use intensive grazing management to promote the health of the pasture and the sheep, and we iimplement low stress handling technques when working with the sheep (many of whom are pets).
