We offer a variety of small, personal weaving classes. If you see a class that you would like to take but it is not
scheduled or at a time that you can’t come please email Robin to schedule a class.
Fall 2022: I started to offer virtual classes in 2021, but it seems difficult to offer the kind of class I like to present.
The exception is our Wednesday Weavers—Zoom is great for that! And we throw in a few in-person activities as well.
Let's Get Fancy with Rigid Heddle Weaving
Let's Get Fancy with Rigid Heddle Weaving
Explore finger-manipulated techniques including Danish medallions, Brooks bouquet, Spanish lace, rya, leno and clasped weft. Each of these techniques has the potential for infinite creativity depending on variables of yarn choice, scale, and position. You will weave a sampler to learn the basic techniques and to whet your appetite for continued exploration. By using two colors in the warp this project becomes not only a sampler of these techniques, but of color interaction for each structure. These finger-manipulated techniques may also be used on traditional table and floor loom weaving, adding to any weaver’s repertoire.
Experience: You must know basic operation of the RH loom and be able to weave plain weave.
Materials fee: None
Bring: RH loom warped and ready to weave & yarn for weft (you will get instructions prior to the class); 2 stick shuttles (may purchase at class); 1 pick-up stick (may purchase at class); 1 knitting needle, size 10 or larger, a little longer than the width of your warp; 1 crochet hook, any size; tape measure, scissors.
Next class: At Lambtown October 3. Sign up on the Lambtown website.
If there is no date listed for this class email robin@meridianjacobs.com to schedule it.
