Spinning Skills Workshop

$85.00

After learning the basics of spinning it takes practice to improve your skill. I offer a 3-hour class that will be tailored to the needs of the students. We may cover:

  • Fiber prep:
    Starting with a raw fleece - skirting, sorting, scouring.
    Flick carding
    Carding with hand cards
    Carding with drum carder
    Combing

  • Spinning practice
    Try other wheels (Schacht and Ashford models including e-spinner)
    Evaluate spinning practices and improve technique
    Long-draw
    Woollen vs worsted spinning

The topics we cover will depend on the requests of the people who come for the workshop. We may have a little of all of everything.

Wednesday, March 12, 1-4
Note that any class in March may be subject to disruption if a ewe is in labor. Allow a little extra time that we might spend in the barn.
