I can provide entertaining and educational presentations on a variety of topics, structured to interest your group. Most presentations include a PowerPoint slide show. I always provide things to look at and touch. Each of these programs takes about an hour including Q & A. I can make it shorter if necessary and can easily fill more time by taking more questions and more discussion of things that I bring to show. Inquiries about other topics of interest are welcome. I have listed virtual options for most of these topics.
Guild Speaker Fee: $300 plus gas and housing, if overnight is necessary. Rate for virtual programs via Zoom is $200. To discuss dates and program choices contact me. Most of the classes I teach can be adapted to off-site workshops for guilds or other groups. The workshop charge is $500/day plus mileage (IRS rate) and housing if I stay overnight.

What's in my (Weaver's) Tool Box?
A well-wound warp is the first step for error-free, relaxed weaving. Learn about tips and techniques for warping and weaving more efficiently by taking a look in my toolbox and learning how to efficiently use the back-to-front method to warp your loom. The presentation will also include some “bloopers”—just to show that even someone who has woven for 40 years doesn’t always get everything right the first time and to give you ideas about how to fix glitches in the process.
IN PERSON: Sllde show and live demo. I will bring a loom, along with some of the other gadgets I talk about so that I can demonstrate the basics of warping the loom.
VIRTUAL: This is a slide show presentation combined with “live” in my studio, where I will demonstrate warping from back-to-front and the use of the AVL warping wheel.
In either presentation I am glad to take questions during and after the program.
In-person presentation: I will bring a loom and all the tools needed for warping. I will demonstrate these processes. I will also bring woven pieces and yarn for discussion.
Zoom presentation: Slide show to present the information above followed by some “live demos” in my studio/shop. I will demonstrate winding the warp for back-to-front warping, dressing the loom, and using the AVL warping wheel—with time for Q&A.
