I can provide entertaining and educational presentations on a variety of topics, structured to interest your group. Most presentations include a PowerPoint slide show. I always provide things to look at and touch. Each of these programs takes about an hour including Q & A. I can make it shorter if necessary and can easily fill more time by taking more questions and more discussion of things that I bring to show. Inquiries about other topics of interest are welcome. I have listed virtual options for most of these topics.
Guild Speaker Fee: $300 plus gas and housing, if overnight is necessary. Rate for virtual programs via Zoom is $200. To discuss dates and program choices contact me. Most of the classes I teach can be adapted to off-site workshops for guilds or other groups. The workshop charge is $500/day plus mileage (IRS rate) and housing if I stay overnight.
Meridian Jacobs - Mixing Life with a Fiber Business and a Sheep Farm
Meridian Jacobs - Mixing Life with a Fiber Business and a Sheep Farm
There is more to running a fiber business than admiring shelves of yarn and knitting all day just as there is more to raising sheep than cuddling lambs. How do you combine farming, shop-keeping, teaching, and weaving into a successful business? I will discuss my experience developing and managing Meridian Jacobs with plenty of time to answer questions. This program can be directed towards weaving, spinning, or knitting groups. I have also presented this topic to groups of farmers who do not yet know about the fiber market but want to explore it. Presentation includes PowerPoint slides and a "trunk show" of fiber, yarn, handwoven articles, and other farm products.
VIRTUAL VERSION I will present this with the same slide show but add more slides of all the yarn, fiber, handwoven pieces, and farm products that I would normally bring with me. I am glad to answer questions during and after the presentation.
