I can provide entertaining and educational presentations on a variety of topics, structured to interest your group. Most presentations include a PowerPoint slide show. I always provide things to look at and touch. Each of these programs takes about an hour including Q & A. I can make it shorter if necessary and can easily fill more time by taking more questions and more discussion of things that I bring to show. Inquiries about other topics of interest are welcome. I have listed virtual options for most of these topics.
Guild Speaker Fee: $300 plus gas and housing, if overnight is necessary. Rate for virtual programs via Zoom is $200. To discuss dates and program choices contact me. Most of the classes I teach can be adapted to off-site workshops for guilds or other groups. The workshop charge is $500/day plus mileage (IRS rate) and housing if I stay overnight.
2-Day Workshop: Weave a Chenille Scarf
2-Day Workshop: Weave a Chenille Scarf
Weave your own luxurious rayon chenille scarf and learn the tricks of working with this somewhat challenging yarn! Choose from an unlimited variety of colors to design your unique scarf. You will learn to warp your loom back-to-front and more advanced weavers may choose to wind warp using a paddle.
Experience: You must have basic weaving experience even if you have woven only one piece (or taken the Learn to Weave class).
Materials fee: $30 - I will bring an array of Silk City chenille yarn in lots of colors.
Bring: Loom with 8 dpi reed, weaving bench or chair, warping frame*, raddle if available (I can bring a few), lease sticks, paper to wind a 3-yard warp, boat shuttle and bobbins, scissors, calculator.
Supplies to have in classroom: Bobbin winder (or remind me to bring one)
*Mounting warping frames without putting nails in a wall: use wreath hangars on doors; use gridwall pieces secured in triangle or square; use IKEA drying rack; use any other free standing shelf or rack to which we can attach a warping frame with hooks, clamps, or bungee cords.
