Wovens Reimagined by Gynna Clemes
Wovens Reimagined by Gynna Clemes
Join us for a day of exploring ideas to transform handwoven textiles and samplers.
Are you a weaver with boxes and boxes of finished scarves but have no idea how you are going to ever wear them and you’ve already gifted everyone you know with a scarf or three?
This workshop is for you!
Are you a weaver who is looking for a new challenge, and would like to sew clothing from your woven cloth, but doesn’t want a shapeless garment?
This workshop is also for you!
Are you a spinner who is interested in learning how to weave to use up stash, but doesn’t want to end up with hundreds of scarves?
This workshops is also for you! And taking one of Robins weaving workshops too!
In this workshop we will reimagine how we approach handwovens and remove the “scariness” of cutting into our precious handwoven! We will discuss how to turn handwovens into clothing, accessories, housewares, decorations/toys.
This workshop will be mostly presentation and discussion with a hands on project. We will not work on personal projects, but we will discuss different options and ideas.
We will apply the different skills we discuss in a fun project using fabric and samplers that Robin has woven over the years.
Students will leave feeling confident with a plan or idea on what to do.
Students should come with an open mind and willingness to learn.
Students should bring any handwovens they are interested in reimagining and note taking materials—paper, pen, etc.
Workshop Fee: $75 + $25 materials fee
Maximum students: 10
