More Lambs
Who doesn’t want to see more lamb photos? With California on a coronavirus lockdown this is the only way I can share the farm with you. And I’ve been so lax on my blog posts for quite awhile I feel like now is a good time to catch up.
This is Evelyn and her single lamb, #72. The ewe below is Hilda with twins. These are the last two ewes to lamb until two more surprised me last night and this morning.
These ewes are only barely a year old themselves and they usually have just a single lamb. Hilda had bagged up quite awhile ago but Evelyn only started developing an udder a few days ago. The two that lambed last night and this morning barely had any udder development, but I saw that it was starting. They should have enough milk for their single lambs.
Most of the sheep are on the pasture now, a perfect setting for lamb photos.
I am putting these photos and more info on my website and will continue to update photos as I can get them.
It was a warm sunny day yesterday, unlike the previous week. The sheep enjoyed the fresh pasture. That is Addy, also a yearling, with her 1/4 Jacob twins. Addy is a BFL-cross bred to a Jacob ram.
We have more excitement to come with the goats kidding. They are due at the middle and end of April.
Springtime flowers! Wisteria over the back gate.
Flannelbush in my yard.
