Soft Jacob Yarn

This is the same wool that is carded into the popular side-by-side sliver. I reserve some of the fleeces to have spun into yarn. My Jacob flock produces wool that is soft and lofty and free of contaminants.  I wash the wool and sort the colors and each year I choose a different style of yarns for limited production. The natural color yarns below are from the 2008 shearing.  This Jacob wool is perfect knitting or weaving blankets, sweaters, socks, and ponchos. It dyes beautifully as well.

2008 2-ply Jacob Wool Yarn, worsted  weight, 640-840 yd/lb.
Suggested gauge: 5-6 st = 1 inch; Sett: 6-10 epi.
Due to the nature of this locally produced yarn, grist and yardage may vary from lot to lot.  I have calculated the yd/lb listed based on the mill's measurements of the skeins. The yardage amount is approximate.  The yarn is wound onto cones or made into hanks. It's the same yarn. The coned yarn looks more dense and thinner because it is under tension. Yarn in hanks is in a relaxed state. Cone yardage varies. I can wind off small quantities if desired.

Rainbow dyed yarn
I dye my natural colored Jacob yarn in a variety of colors. These yarns are one-of-a-kind. Even within one dye lot colors may vary from one skein to the next. In those lots where this is significant I have individually identified the skeins.
Refer to information above for yds/lb of 800 series yarn.

Jacob Rug Yarn Sold Out
The britch is the coarser wool on the Jacob sheep's back legs. I keep this wool separate from the rest of the fleece since its coarseness makes it scratchy. This coarser fiber is ideal for long-wearing rugs as well as tapestry weaving.
